Shure started selling radio parts in Chicago in 1925, Ben Bauer’s Unidyne 55 of 1939 was the first single-element directional dynamic, and Ernie Seeler’s Unidyne III capsule turned into the SM57 and SM58 in 1965 and 1966. We’ve got SM57s, SM7Bs, SM81s and the odd ribbon coming through.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSeeler reportedly couldn’t stand rock and roll, which didn’t stop his capsule becoming the snare mic on most of it.
