Chandler

Commit some character on the way in. Chandler Limited’s mic preamps and compressors bring EMI and Abbey Road circuit history into the recording chain, alongside its Germanium and Little Devil designs. We’ve got options for valve gain, compression and tonal shaping, from REDD.47 preamps to modular outboard (subtlety is optional). Choose where you want the colour: at the microphone, across a track or on the mix.

The Abbey Road connection starts with the circuitry. Chandler’s REDD.47 recreates the valve amplifier used in EMI’s REDD.51 consoles, with additional gain options for different amounts of drive. The RS124 draws on compressors developed at Abbey Road in 1960. Access to the original units and modification notes helped Chandler recreate their differing responses, rather than relying on schematics alone.

A rack unit or a spare slot? Our collection includes the Germanium Pre Amp/DI and Germanium 500 Preamp MKII, plus Little Devil preamps, compressors and equalisers. The 500 series units offer a modular route into the range, while REDD.47, RS124 and RS660 options cover rack-based recording and dynamics processing. Match the format to the channels you need and the space you have.

There are choices before the preamp, too: REDD and TG microphones sit alongside the outboard. For rack units, check the listing’s power-supply details when planning your setup; the collection also includes Chandler PSU options.
