Hungary’s Gainlab Audio builds analogue outboard for shaping tone and dynamics, from Dictator compressors to Empress equalisers and the Bishop recording channel. The Dictator Dual Mono grew out of requests for independent channel control. It gives each side its own valve compression settings while retaining a linkable sidechain, so it can handle separate sources or stereo material.

Prefer to shape the sound while recording? Bishop combines a valve preamp with optical compression and a Dynamic Air Band. Empress takes the EQ route, pairing three passive bands per channel with valve gain circuitry. There are several ways to bring saturation into the chain.
