Korg
Korg’s first product was a drum machine, built because an accordionist was fed up with the one in the club he played. Tsutomu Katoh owned the club, Tadashi Osanai was the accordionist, and Keio Electronic Laboratories opened in Tokyo in 1962 (the name Korg came along later). The MS-20, Polysix and M1 followed. We’ve got Polysixes, Tritons, SDD delays and the odd ARP Odyssey coming through.
The MS-20 of 1978 put a patchable analogue synth within reach, the Polysix of 1981 added six voices and memories, the M1 of 1988 invented the workstation, and the Triton carried that on from 1999.
Through here come the Polysix, the Prophecy and the MS2000R, the Triton Pro X 88 and Triton Rack, the M1R and N1R, the KPR-77 rhythm machine, the microSAMPLER, the SDD-2000 and SDD-3000 delays, the DRV-2000 reverb and GR-1 gated reverb, and Korg’s own ARP Odyssey module. If the one you want has already gone, put it through Find Me Gear and we’ll let you know when the next lands, checked over and ready to ship UK-wide.
