Smart Research

Let the transient through, then bring the level under control. Smart Research’s compressors give you ways to shape that relationship, from stereo mix processing to more assertive drum compression. Our collection includes the C1, C2, C2M and C1LA, alongside guitar DI systems and sidechain accessories. Choose the format and control options for your session (a button marked Crush gives you a fairly clear hint).

The C2 offers stereo or independent mono operation, external sidechain inputs and Crush mode for exaggerated compression effects. The C2M provides two audio channels with one set of controls. For a modular rack, the C1LA brings two-channel compression to our 500 series units, occupying two slots and adding a Soft compression curve. The collection also includes MDI and DDI guitar DI systems, an RA reamp cable and HPF-Y cables that reduce the C2 sidechain’s sensitivity to bass.
