Push up a fader on an SSL and you’re touching the sound of the last five decades of records. Founded in Oxfordshire in 1969, Solid State Logic gave the world the 4000 E and G Series consoles, the bus compressor that glues everything together and Total Recall - and then squeezed all of that DNA into SiX, Fusion, The Bus+ and a 500 series line-up that fits in any rack.

The SL 4000 started it all, and its E and G Series channels are why so many records from the 80s and 90s sound the way they do - the 4-band EQ, the punchy VCA dynamics and that bus compressor. The 9000 J then did the opposite trick with SuperAnalogue circuitry: ultra-low distortion, huge headroom, nothing in the way. Both flavours are still going strong in the Origin, the XL-Desk and the digitally controlled Oracle (the recall sheets can finally go in the bin).

No room for a console? The Revival 4000 and Super 9000 channel strips put a whole 4000 E or 9000 J channel into 1U; Fusion and The Bus+ handle mix bus colour and glue; E-EQ, E-DYN, G-COMP and VHD+ Pre bring the modules to your 500 series chassis; and SiX and BiG SiX are desktop mixers with the real SSL preamps and bus compressor built in. Add the UF8, UF1 and UC1 controllers and the SSL 2+, 12 and 18 interfaces and there’s an SSL studio at every size.
