TL Audio started out restoring vintage Neve and Trident consoles, which explains a lot about how its gear sounds. Tony Larking’s Hertfordshire company launched its first valve product, the EQ-1 dual valve equaliser, in 1993, and went on to fill racks with valve preamps, compressors and channel processors in its colour-coded ranges. We’ve got Classic, Ivory and Ebony units and valve mixers coming through.

The originals are the purest: the PA-1 dual pentode preamp, the C1 dual valve preamp and compressor, the Dual Valve Mic Pre-Amp and the EQ1 dual valve equaliser that started it all (TL, if you were wondering, is Tony Larking). The Ivory series brought the VP-5051 and stereo 5052 channel processors, the 5001 quad preamp and the 5013 parametric EQ, and the EQ-2011, EQ-2012 and C-2021 add more valve EQ and compression.

The Ebony A1 is a pair of preamps with mic, line and DI inputs, the A4 is a valve summing mixer, the 2Fat pairs preamp and compressor, and the VI1 runs eight channels through valves. For tracking a band in one go there’s the Fat Track and the M1 Tubetracker, both complete valve mixers.
