British Audio Technologies 1699 Parallel Dynamics Processor - Pre-Order
The British Audio Technologies 1699 is an in-line parallel dynamics processor engineered to inject harmonic richness, density, and attitude into your tracking and mix workflows. Designed by Matt Sartori, the 1699 splits incoming microphone or line-level signals into two simultaneous paths: a pristine, direct dry output and an aggressively processed wet path.
The 1699 eliminates complex DAW routing or outboard splitter setups. By providing simultaneous Through (Dry) and Processed (Wet) XLR outputs directly on the rear panel, engineers can track the pure original performance while blending in heavily crushed, harmonically saturated parallel compression at the mic preamp stage.
At the core of the 1699 is a character-driven compressor that exaggerates transients, clamps down dynamics, and adds analog weight. Whether used to give vocals urgent forward presence, add punch to drum rooms, or give DI instruments analog grit, its streamlined front-panel layout makes dialing in character fast and repeatable.
Key Features
-
Parallel Processing Architecture: Splits the incoming signal into simultaneous direct dry and processed wet paths at the source.
-
Dual XLR Outputs: Dedicated Through (Dry) with phantom power pass-through and Processed (Wet) outputs for flexible tracking and blending.
-
Transformer-Driven Input Stage: Input Gain drives the internal transformer for rich console-style harmonic saturation.
-
Character-Focused Compression: Aggressive, non-transparent dynamics circuit ranging from subtle density to extreme smash.
-
Input Pad Control: Attenuates hot incoming signals to maintain optimal gain staging before saturation.
-
Versatile Source Compatibility: Works seamlessly with microphones, DI instruments, and line-level tracks.
