Two microphones, two different starting points. Myburgh’s M1 pairs a valve circuit with an M7 capsule, while the M28 takes a FET approach with a CK12 capsule. Our collection brings both designs to your choice of condenser microphones, with multiple pickup patterns for adapting to the source. Match the microphone to your mic preamps, then give placement some attention (the capsule can’t choose its own spot).
Andrew Myburgh, Andreas Grosser and Eckehard Dux designed the M1 around an original circuit, a Thiersch-made Mylar M7 capsule and custom transformers. Its power supply provides variable polar patterns and a dedicated true-cardioid setting. The M28 offers five patterns, from omnidirectional through wide cardioid, cardioid and hypercardioid to figure-eight, plus a 6dB pad. When planning your microphone accessories, account for the microphone and swivel mount’s combined weight.
