Cloudlifter CL-X Single Channel Mic Activator with Cinemag Transformer
The Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-X combines Cloud Microphones' patented active JFET circuitry with a custom designed CineMag transformer. Delivering switchable gain levels of +12 dB or +36 dB, the CL-X also adds the subtle dynamic saturation, harmonic depth, and dimensional warmth characteristic of large format analog recording consoles.
Unlike fixed-gain boosters, the CL-X features a selectable More / Max output button. Set to Max, the unit supplies +36 dB boost for quiet sources, delicate instruments, and low-sensitivity ribbons or dynamics. Engaging the attenuator drops gain to +12 dB, enabling you to drive high output sources such as guitar cabinets and snare drums.
Key Features
-
Custom CineMag Nickel-Core Transformer: Infuses recordings with dynamic harmonic character, smooth top-end air, and classic console-style weight.
-
Switchable +12dB / +36dB Gain: Choose between maximum boost for soft sources (+36dB) or moderate boost (+12dB) to drive the transformer hard with loud signals.
-
Patented Class-A Discrete JFET Topology: Direct-coupled circuit retains complete source detail while keeping noise floors virtually imperceptible.
-
Phantom Power Safe: Runs on standard +48V phantom power without passing DC current downstream, guaranteeing safe operation with delicate passive ribbon microphones.
-
Ideal 3 kΩ Impedance Load: Optimizes high-frequency response and damping for passive dynamic and ribbon transducers.
-
Rugged Handcrafted USA Chassis: Enclosed in heavy-duty steel with premium Neutrik gold-pin XLRs, built in Tucson, Arizona, and backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
