Roger Mayer 58LM
Physically the 58LM bears little resemblance to the full-size RM58: the lack of panel space in the 500-series format necessitates optimising the 3 controls and the way they operate. However, there is similar circuity inside which shares many of the RM58s characteristics including the 'feed-forward' style of design.
Wave Control: This allows control of the nature of the harmonics that are generated when the limiter is acting.
Drive Control: Turn the control up for more gain reduction.
Trim Control/Output: This sets the final output level.
Mode Switch: This toggles between different attack and release profiles. The two default options (medium attack & fast release, and fast attack & slow release) have been carefully chosen and will cater for most sources. The internal jumpers on the inside of the 58LM will give you a further six attack and release times to give you 36 combinations for each of the two profiles. You can then tailor a specific module for a particular source like Bass or Snare for your recording setup.
