Austrian Audio

Both ends of the recording chain need attention. Vienna’s Austrian Audio makes microphones for capturing the performance and headphones for hearing what you’ve captured. We’ve got OC18 studio condensers, CC8 stereo sets and Hi-X headphones, alongside instrument and vocal mics for different sources. Start with the session: a vocal, a drum kit or a mix that needs another listen (headphone bleed isn’t usually on the track sheet).

Austrian Audio opened its doors in July 2017 following the closure of AKG’s Vienna offices. Its initial team included 22 former AKG staff, bringing experience in acoustics, electronics, mechanical design and testing. That background shows up in details such as the OC18’s CKR12 ceramic capsule, with microphones crafted and measured at the company’s Vienna headquarters.

A stereo pair or a mic for a tight spot? The CC8 Stereo Set covers paired recording setups, while the OC7’s swivelling capsule assembly gives you 220 degrees of rotation for positioning around instruments and drums. For monitoring, the closed-back Hi-X60 offers isolation during tracking, while the open-back Hi-X65 suits mixing and listening in quieter surroundings.

We’ve got options for the mic stand and the headphone hook. Missing a particular model from your setup? Let Find Me Gear know what you’re after and we’ll help source it. In-stock equipment is ready to ship UK-wide.
