Focusrite’s story began in 1985 with a commission from Sir George Martin. The resulting ISA 110 brought microphone preamplification and EQ to the recording chain, laying the groundwork for the company’s console designs. The Red Range followed in 1993, carrying that circuit heritage into standalone preamps, equalisers and dynamics processors.

Tracking several sources? The ISA428 MkII puts four channels of Lundahl transformer-based preamplification into a 2U rack. Each channel offers switchable input impedance, so you can change how the preamp interacts with the microphone. Instrument inputs and analogue inserts give you further options when building the recording chain.
